YAY! Mother Nature sure wasn't cooperating with our schedule this year but we FINALLY got all our tournaments done for 2023.
Our last tournament of the season, the Fallen Comrades Tournament, is a time to commemorate members who have moved on to the big tennis court in the sky. With that in mind, 10 players came out to battle for the coveted trophy. In the end, Mark and Pierre bested their opponents with a score of 6-2, winning the championship. Congratulations to the winners! Our final tournament of the season will be held on Sunday, September 10th. The Fallen Comrades Tournament is a time to remember those players that have moved on to big tennis court in the sky. Non-members welcome. Fees apply. Start time 9:00 AM.
This special annual tournament celebrates the lives of club members we have lost over the years. Join us as we celebrate the passion for tennis they all had with this very special event. WHERE: Annapolis Royal Tennis Club, 100 Champlain Drive, Annapolis Royal, NS WHEN: 06 September 2020 from 1:00 PM sharp to 5:00 PM FORMAT: No partner needed as the format mixes players up within a round-robin format. FEE: Members $2 / Non-Members $5. No registration required. Rain out date - TBA RULES: Have fun but be sure to bring a lawn chair and hand sanitizer (physical distancing rules in effect). PLEASE DO NOT PLAY IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL! All are welcome! If you require tennis racquet restringing prior to the event, please contact Strings Attached or @StringsAttachedbyVal on Facebook. Earlier today, Premier Stephen McNeil announced that we will now be permitted to hold our annual tournaments starting with the John Rodie Memorial event on Sunday, July 5th. Stay tuned for further details.
COVID-19 play regulations will be in effect. What a great day of tennis! With 16 players in all (including six ladies for their own category), the stage was set for some memorable play. As usual, the open section was divided into two sections using the seeding points from previous tournaments.
Men's Doubles -- Jeff T and Neville M took the Men's Doubles title in a decisive 6-2 final; and, as always, sportsmen to the end. Ladies Doubles -- The Ladies Doubles was a single section round robin event that saw many closely fought battles, with Heidi C and Linda G emerging victorious. It was fantastic having a ladies section this year and hopefully this can become a regular event! This was the final tournament of the 2019 season. Thank you to our members for your support during the past year. We're still playing our regular schedule, but click on our calendar to watch for time changes as we enter the fall season. As always, non-members are more than welcome! Join us Sunday, September 1, 2019 for our Fallen Comrades Memorial Doubles Tournament, a fun event celebrating the memory of club members who are no longer with us. No partner needed as the format mixes players up within a round-robin format. Starts at 1:00 PM sharp to 5:00 PM. Members $2 / Non-Members $5. No registration required.
